Step by Step Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the soup. Heat the olive oil and add the onion and the carrot. Sauté for 5 minutes until they soften and add the tomato sauce, the water or stock, the salt, the pepper, the sugar, the cinnamon and the basil and wait until the mixture starts boiling.
- Step 2: Add the barley-shaped pasta, mix and then cook for approximately 15 minutes.
- Step 3: Remove the soup from the heat, garnish with the grated gruyère cheese and serve.
