Step by Step Instructions
  • Step 1: Prepare the soutzoukakia. Place the minced meat, the onion, the garlic, the tomato, the bread (squeezed well to get rid of all the excess water), the eggs, the 40g of olive oil, the wine, the cumin, the parsley, the 1 tbsp of oregano, the salt and finally, the red chilli pepper mixture, all in a bowl and knead well, blending all the ingredients nicely together. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Step 2: Prepare the potatoes. Place the potatoes in a baking pan, sprinkle with salt, pepper, the 1/2 tbsp of oregano, the lemon juice, the 60g of olive oil and 1 glass of water, mix together and set aside.
  • Step 3: Remove the minced meat mixture from the refrigerator and shape into soutzoukakia (smallish oval patties). Arrange them on the baking pan. Bake in preheated oven at 180°C for approximately 45 minutes until the potatoes are cooked and the soutzoukakia are a nice golden brown colour.
  • Step 4: Serve warm.
