Handmade bites made from carob flour, roasted almonds, yellow raisins and Cretan olive oil, flavoured with cinnamon, cloves and natural orange juice. They were traditionally served as a treat at weddings or births. This is because people believed that they brought good luck. They were called "kalo riziko" which in Greek means "good luck". Niktaris Bakeries make these special bites according to a secret family recipe, using selected ingredients. "Kalorizika" bites do not contain eggs, butter or other dairy products. They are also ideal for vegetarians. Moreover, carob is considered to be a wholesome and most nutritious fruit. It is rich in antioxidants, fibre, vitamins and trace elements while at the same time, poor in calories and fat. Enjoy delicious "carob kalorizika" with your morning coffee or afternoon tea.
