ML Valsamo' was created by a group of friends with common memories and dreams. Having spent all our childhood summers in the Greek countryside, closely tied to our land and the aromas of the Greek earth, we wanted to share what we loved most, through pure products and tastes of our homeland. And so we started our journey. Small local producers, people who love the fruits of Greek nature and know how to harvest and process them with respect as per local traditions, so as to create small gastronomic wonders, became our fellow workers. To be precise, these people became our friends, our family. All of our products are hand picked and we have personally tasted and approved them based on their high quality and uniqueness, constantly researching the market for new delicacies. In Greece we use the word Valsamo to metaphorically describe anything soothing, healing and comforting; a therapeutic remedy for the body and soul. This is exactly what our products achieve. Their discreet flavors act therapeutically, satisfying all of our senses. A valsamo anyone can have in his kitchen and on his table; a small journey of flavors and aromas anyone can relish when opening one of our jars.
The Cyclades constitute the most famous group of islands of the Aegean Sea. The blue sea and the white-washed Cycladic houses, the beaches, the steep rocks, the volcanic soil, the naked landscapes, the bays adorned with fishing-boats with their fishermen often seen mending their nets after a hefty catch. Then there are the traditional island songs which invite you to dance to their characteristic rhythm, the ‘screaming’ seagulls overhead and other waterfowl, the archaeological sites, the beautifully decorated terraces and stone walls. The visitor is awe-struck by the magical sunsets, the vineyards and the olive trees which all together compose the austere, simple and at the same time breathtaking Cycladic scenery. The history of the Cycladic islands dates back to the Prehistoric era. The Proto- Cycladic Civilization was developed in the 3rd millennium BC along with the Proto-Minoan Civilization in Crete and the Proto-Hellenic Civilization in mainland Greece. Since ancient times, the Cycladic islands formed a channel for the expansion of trade and culture. The Cycladic islands are: Amorgos, Anafi, Andros, Antiparos, Delos, Donousa, Iraklia, Thirasia, Ios, Kea, Kimolos, Koyfonisia, Kythnos, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, Serifos, Sikinos, Sifnos, Syros, Schoinoysa, Tinos and Folegandros.
