In recent years, dried fruits seem to maintain a dominant position in our diet. They are ideal snacks for many people, as they require zero preparation time, and at the same time, it is easy to carry them with us wherever we go! Did you know, however, that not only are they a quick office snack but also foods of high nutritional value?

Starting from the basics, dried are the fruits from which most of the water has been removed. This process can be carried out by various methods, natural or artificial, and results in a wrinkled, shrunken fruit with a very high content of nutrients.

In Greece, the most famous dried fruit is the currant, and more specifically the Corinthian currant, which was consumed by the ancient Greeks. It is a food rich in antioxidants and trace elements with proven anti-cancer and antimicrobial action, which is why it is considered to be one of the most notable Greek superfoods! Enjoy it as a snack along with nuts, in fresh salads, with cereals and yogurt, as an ingredient in cereal bars, or even in sweet recipes!

Another all-time favorite dried fruit is the fig. Together with dried plums, figs are the dried fruits with the highest fiber content, which classifies them as natural "remedies" against constipation and digestive problems. Try them as a snack on a gluten-free fig-bar, sugar-free fig nougat, and enjoyable risotto recipes!

Finally, other dried fruits that are considered to be beneficial for our health are cranberries, buckthorn, goji berries and blueberries. Our suggestion is to enjoy them with cereals, for an energy-boosting breakfast. Kali orexi!
