Step by Step Instructions
  • Step 1: Prepare the custard.
  • Step 2: Heat the milk and soumada in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Step 3: Soak the gelatin sheets in cold water.
  • Step 4: Once the milk and soumada mixture is lukewarm, mix in the gelatin sheets and stir well. Cut the vanilla stick in half, scrape out the seeds and add them to the mixture.
  • Step 5: Cover with a membrane and set aside for 30 minutes, thus letting all the aroma of the vanilla get drawn into the custard.
  • Step 6: Strain the custard and serve in bowls to set well. Place the individual bowls into the refrigerator to cool well for about 1 hour.
  • Step 7: Garnish the custard with the wild fig preserve.
