Step by Step Instructions
  • Step 1: Prepare the meat. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Place the meat in the saucepan and sauté for a few minutes until golden brown.
  • Step 2: Remove the meat from the saucepan and add the onions and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes until they soften.
  • Step 3: Then, combine the potatoes, carrots, salt, pepper and bay leaves to the onion and garlic and sauté for another few minutes until it gets a beautiful light golden brown colour.
  • Step 4: Place the meat back into the saucepan and pour in the wine.
  • Step 5: Allow the alcohol to evaporate for 1 minute and add the tomato sauce, thyme and sugar. Cook on low heat for about an hour, until the meat becomes tender and the sauce thickens.
  • Step 6: Remove the food from the heat, sprinkle with xinomizithra cheese and serve.

  • 700g potatoes (cut into quarters)
  • 1 onion (coarsely chopped)
  • 1 tsp garlic pulp
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 80g extra virgin olive oil
  • 100g sweet red wine
  • 400g fresh tomato sauce
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt
  • grated black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh cut thyme
  • 200g xinomizithra
  • 1 tsp sugar
