Step by Step Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the meat. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan. Place the meat in the saucepan and sauté for a few minutes until golden brown.
- Step 2: Remove the meat from the saucepan and add the onions and garlic. Sauté for 5 minutes until they soften.
- Step 3: Then, combine the potatoes, carrots, salt, pepper and bay leaves to the onion and garlic and sauté for another few minutes until it gets a beautiful light golden brown colour.
- Step 4: Place the meat back into the saucepan and pour in the wine.
- Step 5: Allow the alcohol to evaporate for 1 minute and add the tomato sauce, thyme and sugar. Cook on low heat for about an hour, until the meat becomes tender and the sauce thickens.
- Step 6: Remove the food from the heat, sprinkle with xinomizithra cheese and serve.
