Product Description
No one should feel guilty for taking pleasure in such an innocent enjoyment as spreading a thick layer of luscious strawberry jam on toast. Fully aware of the need for a rich jam that goes hand in hand with a balanced diet, Geodi S.A. has crafted its strawberry spread with 70% fresh and luscious Greek strawberries sweetened not with sugar, the usual culprit, but with stevia, that wondrous natural sweetener. The result is a strawberry spread with a profound, ruby-red color and a rich fruitiness that stems from the spread’s high content in fresh fruit. It is entirely free of aroma enhancers and preservatives. It is part of the new range of Geodi S.A. products that are still made with pure, wholesome ingredients in Attica, Greece, but are sweetened with stevia, within the framework of a "lighter" spirit. First impressions start with you taking the lid off your Geodi Strawberry Spread’s jar. Heady aromas of summer strawberries waft tantalizingly to your nostrils. Next comes the "taste test" and your spoon-holding hand dips into the spread of its own volition. At last! A strawberry spread that is sweet but not too sweet with a mouth that is rich yet refreshing and a balance that does not allow sweetness to linger, thanks to the stevia it contains. Stevia (also known as sweetleafor sugarleaf) is a sweetener that provides no calories. The active compounds of stevia are steviol glucosides (also known as steviosides). With steviol glucoside extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar it is an attractive, low-carbohydrate, low-sugar alternative. Extracting the glucosides from stevia is a delicate process: First, stevia leaves are dried. Then, they are steeped into water to release their glucosides which are then isolated by subjecting the water to a clarification and crystallization process. Stevia has become a popular sweetener because it is calorie-free and has a negligible effect on blood glucose. As such, it is ideal for those following a healthier and more balanced eating pattern that avoids empty calories. Aware of today’s needs for fitness, Geodi has sweetened its Strawberry Spread with stevia to make the spread’s traditional way of preparation even more attractive. Unburdened by calories, every mouthwatering spoonful of strawberry can now be allowed free rein to bring you closer to what a homemade, traditional jam should taste like!

Product History
Jams are ideal for breakfast or for afternoon tea, as a topping on yogurt or ice cream, as filling in delicious tarts and as a topping on pancakes with a mediterranean scent. In earlier times, when there were no refrigerators to preserve an entire crop of fruit, the part of the crop that could not be consumed immediately was turnt into jam. Today, use of excess crop is an expression and token of our ecological consciousness. The nutritional value of jams is also important as they constitute a unique source of energy, They contain simple sugars that are absorbed quickly by the body and depending on the fruit, they contain their respective vitamins.

Attica

Attica was first inhabited during the Neolithic era and it has always had a central role in the historical events of Greece. Its mythical past is also of particular interest, since it was the city favoured most by the twelve Olympian gods. During ancient times, Athens, and Attiki in general was a great economic, political, intellectual and cultural force, culminating during the "Golden Age of Pericles".The Acropolis of Athens was built during that time, along with the architectural monuments of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis and many other great buildings. The Peloponnesian War, the expansion of Alexander the Great’s empire, the Roman occupation, the spreading of Christianity, the Byzantines' contempt, the arrival of the Francs, Catalans and Venetians, and finally the period of the Ottoman occupation, all marked the history of Attiki, right up to the year 1834, when Athens was nominated capital, of the finally independent Greek state.

The landscape of Attiki is characterized by the Athenian blue sky, the sun and the glorious shades that the sunset brings out on its stone mass. Also worth mentioning, are the mountains that surround the basinof Attiki with their characteristic vegetation, the national parks, the forest of Kessariani, the wetlands of Mesogeia and the beautiful sandy beaches. One can also spot native and migratory birds, visit countless archaeological sites and walk along the narrow streets of the picturesque area of Plaka, admiring the balconies of its magnificent neoclassical buildings.

In Greek Mythology, legend goes that Dionysus, god of wine and merrymaking, entrusted the inhabitants of Attica with the cultivation of the grapevine and the art of winemaking. The terroir of Mesogia, Attica, renowned for its wines, is Greece’s oldest. It is where the celebrated grape variety “Savvatiano” is grown and where Retsina, the queen of Attica wines, reigns supreme. Retsina is under a Traditional Appellation certification as its unique, traditional traits guarantee a product of special taste and true Greek character. Apart from Mesogia, the region of Attica also includes the area of Piraeus which is Greece’s and the eastern Mediterranean’s largest port celebrated for its strategic and trading significance since ancient times. Today, it is Greece’s and the Greek economy’s largest hub of commercial activities and has the highest passenger traffic among European ports. The Prefecture of Attica is often a preferred destination for visitors as it combines countless, breathtaking vistas with a wide range of entertainment and culinary choices
