Step by Step Instructions
  • Step 1: Place all the ingredients in a mortar, except for the olive oil. Beat the ingredients with the pestle, to a pulp.
  • Step 2: Add the olive oil and continue beating, until the mixture obtains a smooth texture.
  • Step 3: Put the pesto sauce in a glass jar and refrigerate, making sure that the surface of the sauce is covered with olive oil.
  • Step 4: Serve with bread sticks or potato chips, on boiled or baked potatoes, with roast chicken, or mix it with freshly boiled pasta as a delicious sauce.

Homemade pesto sauce with sun-dried tomato, red pepper and cheese

The best pesto sauce is made in a mortar. The slow and gentle crushing of the ingredients with the pestle helps us bring out all the flavours. Equally important: the olive oil which should be of excellent quality, as it is the ingredient that thickens our sauce evenly.
