Rhodes

The island of Rhodes is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. Its sandy beaches, the Butterfly Valley, the charm of the medieval city, the magnificent historical buildings and monuments from the Venetian period, the citadel of Lindos, the ancient cities of Kamiros and Ialyssos and the thermal springs of Kallithea are only a few of the attractions of this world famous island. In mythology Rhodes was referred to as the island belonging to the god of the Sun. The three largest cities of the island and the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, were built during ancient times. Subsequently, Rhodes passed into the hands of the Romans, the Venetians, the Ottomans and the Italians.
