Papaioannou Family

For the Papaioannou family, winegrowing in Nemea, Corinthia, has alway been viewed in the light of tradition.

The Papaioannou Family’s organic vineyards is a successful family business anchored on Nemea’s unique soil and climate conditions and on the ever-increasing experience and knowledge of the family itself in viticulture practices. .As of 1876, Papaioannou generations have dedicatedly tended to the entire gamut of the grapevine culture through wine and Corinthian currants. It is no coincidence that one of the family's younger members, Giorgos, decided to turn to the organic cultivation, drying, and standardization of the world-acclaimed Corinthian currant variety. So that this historical, Greek product may be showcased optimally, the entire production from the family-owned, organically cultivated vineyards is dried unhurriedly the all-natural way.

The family’s vineyards are located in Xirokambos (alt: approx. 300m), area of Nemea, and are organically cultivated. Today, the successful Papaioannou Organic Vineyards focus on the production of the renowned Corinthian black currants which are in great demand both in Greece and abroad. The only condition that the family has set before proceeding to production is substantial qualitative differentiation so that the rarity of the family’s historical product may gain its rightful place and be accordingly highlighted.
